GP-led adult ADHD care
Adult ADHD care for the Illawarra, closer to home
Getting ADHD support from Wollongong has often meant a long trip up the M1 to Sydney. Think of a working parent in Dapto, a shift worker in Corrimal, or a University of Wollongong student with assignments due. That trip can push the whole thing into the too-hard basket.
My ADHD GP is the ADHD service of Rosedale Medical Practice, a GP practice in West Pennant Hills caring for patients since 1997. It is AGPAL accredited against the RACGP Standards. Our GPs look after adults with ADHD.
- One GP-led path for adults across the Illawarra
- In person first, then most visits by video
- We apply for NSW Health approval if needed
- Your usual GP kept in the loop
What we offer the Illawarra
Continuation prescribing and diagnosis, both open now
Two services. Fees are the same in person or by video.
Continuation prescribing
Already have a formal ADHD diagnosis and need your script reviewed? Under NSW rules, trained GPs can keep prescribing ADHD medicine for eligible adults. This service does not give a diagnosis.
Check-ups after your first visit are $187.45 for 15 minutes, usually every three to six months.
Bring your diagnosis details, past specialist or GP letters, and a list of your current medicine and doses.
ADHD assessment in Wollongong
Our adult ADHD assessment takes two visits. Visit 1 is a full interview, in person at West Pennant Hills. Visit 2 covers your result and a written plan, by video or in person.
You pay in full when your Visit 1 booking is confirmed. This covers both visits, the questionnaires (yours and one from someone who knows you), and a written result.
Everyone gets a written result, whether or not ADHD is diagnosed. Not sure yet? Take the free 2-minute fit check first.
Same price in person or by video. All prices include HotDoc’s $2.45 booking fee. An in-person visit may get a Medicare rebate. A video visit only gets a rebate if you are a registered MyMedicare patient of Rosedale Medical Practice, or you saw one of our GPs in person in the last 12 months. See all prices and rebates
Your GP decides on treatment after seeing you. Booking doesn’t guarantee a script.

What My ADHD GP offers people across the Illawarra
Many Illawarra residents have a diagnosis but nowhere to keep their treatment going. Continuation prescribing helps with that. You do not need a referral to book. Our adult ADHD assessment is for people who have never been diagnosed. Read how continuation prescribing works, or read about ADHD diagnosis in NSW.
In NSW, GPs complete formal training to treat ADHD. Continuation Prescribers continue treatment for adults with an existing diagnosis and plan. Endorsed Prescribers have more training and can also assess, diagnose and start treatment. Our team includes GPs at both levels.
How video visits work when you are based in Wollongong
After your first visit in person, check-ups are booked video calls with one of our GPs. You book online, join from a quiet spot with good internet, and have a real, unhurried talk about your ADHD and your daily life. If we send anything to your usual pharmacy or GP, we send it electronically. Seeing an ADHD doctor for Wollongong patients by video does not change the care you get.
Who this suits and what to bring
Our continuation service suits adults across the Illawarra who already have a formal ADHD diagnosis and need steady ongoing care. When you book, have your diagnosis details ready. Bring any past specialist or GP letters, and a list of your current medicine and doses. A script is never guaranteed. The doctor decides what is safe and right for you. Meet our team on the our GPs page.
Costs and Medicare in brief
Billing is private. You see every fee before you book through HotDoc. In-person visits at West Pennant Hills may get a Medicare rebate. Video visits only get a rebate if you are a registered MyMedicare patient of Rosedale Medical Practice, or you have seen one of our GPs in person, for any reason, in the last 12 months. Otherwise the full fee applies. See the full list on our pricing page.
Questions
Common questions from Wollongong and Illawarra patients
Do I still need to travel to Sydney for ADHD care?
Yes, for your first visit. It is always in person at our practice in West Pennant Hills. You also need an in-person check-up at least once a year. In between, most check-ups can be by video from Wollongong and the Illawarra. This needs the doctor to agree, and you need a usual GP we can work with. NSW Health approval may be needed, and we apply for it. For an assessment, Visit 1 is also in person at West Pennant Hills.
I am a University of Wollongong student. Can telehealth work around my timetable?
Yes. Once video visits are open to you, they are booked at set times. You can join from anywhere private with good internet. Many students find this easier to fit around lectures, placements and part-time work.
I have an existing diagnosis from years ago. Can you continue my prescription?
If you have a formal ADHD diagnosis, you may be able to use continuation prescribing. Bring your diagnosis papers and current medicine details to your first visit. This visit is in person at West Pennant Hills, so the GP can go through your history properly.
What if I have never been diagnosed?
Continuation prescribing is only for people who already have a diagnosis. If you have never been assessed, start with our adult ADHD assessment. It is open now. You can read more about ADHD diagnosis in NSW or book an ADHD assessment online.
How is a telehealth ADHD prescription in Wollongong handled?
The doctor decides on treatment during your visit. If a script is right for you, it is sent electronically. A script is never guaranteed. You can also read about our telehealth service across NSW.
How does the appointment pathway work from the Illawarra?
Your first visit is always in person at West Pennant Hills. After that, most check-ups can be by video, if you meet the usual rules. We do not promise a set wait time. You do not need a referral to book. The doctor decides on treatment after seeing you.
