How ADHD costs compare in NSW
ADHD care costs vary a lot across NSW. It depends on the path you take. A private specialist assessment can cost a lot, and it is often billed over several visits. Our GP-led assessment is one fee for the whole assessment. You see the price before you book, so there is no surprise second bill.
When you compare options, check a few things. Does the price cover the whole assessment, or just the first visit? Does a rebate apply? Will the same doctor look after your check-ups?
Assessment process and timeline
Adult ADHD assessments at My ADHD GP are open now. You can book directly. If you’d like, take our free 2-minute fit check first to make sure an assessment is the right path for you. You pay in full when Visit 1 is confirmed.
- Visit 1 is a detailed interview, in person at West Pennant Hills.
- Between visits, you and someone who knows you fill in questionnaires. You also send any records that help. We can’t finish your assessment until we have everything.
- Visit 2 is usually 3 to 4 weeks later, in person or by video visit. You get your result and a written plan. If the doctor decides treatment suits you, it may start then.
Already diagnosed? You can book a continuation visit instead. See our ADHD diagnosis in NSW page for more.
Ongoing management and prescription review costs
Most of our patients already have a diagnosis. They come to us for ongoing ADHD care. This uses two visit types: the Initial ADHD Continuation Consult (30 minutes) and the ADHD Follow-Up Review, a 15 minute check-up. Your first visit is always the Initial Continuation Consult, in person at West Pennant Hills. After that, care can be by video visit across NSW if the usual rules are met. We send a letter to your usual GP. You need an in-person check-up at least once a year, in line with NSW Health rules.
At each check-up, your GP reviews your script, checks how you are going and updates your plan. You see the same GP each time. To learn more, see our ADHD continuation prescribing page, or read about ADHD telehealth across NSW.
Costs for continuing patients
Moving your ADHD care to My ADHD GP? The same fees apply. Your doctor books check-ups with you at your visit, not online. You can change or cancel for free up to 24 hours before your visit. If you cancel or change within 24 hours, a partial cancellation fee may apply.

Questions
FAQ: ADHD cost, billing and rebate questions
How much does an ADHD assessment cost in NSW?
Prices vary across NSW. A private specialist assessment can cost a lot, and is often billed over several visits. Our adult ADHD assessment is $1,202.45. You pay it in full when we confirm Visit 1. It covers Visit 1, a detailed interview in person at West Pennant Hills. It covers the questionnaires you and someone who knows you fill in. It also covers Visit 2, where you get your result and a written plan, in person or by video visit. You can book directly, or take our free 2-minute fit check first to make sure an assessment is the right path for you. Adult assessments are open now. If you already have a diagnosis, the first continuation visit is $287.45 and each check-up is $187.45. All prices include HotDoc’s $2.45 booking fee. You see the fee before you confirm your booking.
What if the assessment doesn’t find ADHD?
The fee pays for the assessment, not a set result. Every patient gets the full assessment and a written result with a plan. If ADHD is not the best fit for your symptoms, your written result explains what we found and what to do next. The doctor decides on treatment separately. A script is never guaranteed.
Does My ADHD GP bulk-bill ADHD consultations?
No. Our GP visits are privately billed. Pathology and ECG tests done by an outside provider are usually bulk-billed by that provider.
Do telehealth appointments get a Medicare rebate?
